Pictures!

Mom and Logan just after birth

Mom, Dad, and Baby Logan just after birth

Not long after Logan was born Ryan rushed to Coreina’s to bring the girls to see their new baby brother. Em was already asleep for the night so Kaitlyn got to come by herself. She was a little tired and everyone was watching her, so she didn’t know what to think.

Baby Logan was prepared though, and had a gift for sister. After Kaitlyn opened her new princess shirt and baby doll from Logan she was much happier to see Logan.

The family minus Em

And one more of Logan

The next morning Kaitlyn was very excited to come and see baby Logan and Emily was too. Em liked her baby and new shirt too. The girls have had lots of fun talking care of their new babies like momma.

Unfortunately no more pictures were taken. It was a little crazy in the hospital with 2 very curious little girls and only 1 daddy! Video was taken, maybe some day we’ll get that up here. The girls LOVE their new little brother and he tolerates them very well. Kaitlyn is a big helper, and Em loves to smush and love on him. I hope to get a family picture taken soon. Enjoy these pictures for now.

For journaling purposes

Logan Daniel Dalton

This is Logan’s birth day story. So Thursday (8-7-08) night around 2am I thought my water MAY have broken, I wasn’t sure. Every time I got up during the night I would think, maybe, yes- no, oh I don’t know. Since I wasn’t sure and there weren’t any contractions I just decided to wait tell morning and see. I didn’t want to wake the girls. I didn’t even tell Ryan because I didn’t want to get his hopes up. He was SUPER excited about his BOY and could NOT wait for him to arrive! So in the morning I told Ryan and he said I should go to the doctor. I called mom and she agreed. So I think around 8 I went in to the hospital to be checked. The girls went to Coreina’s (THANK YOU!!!) and Ryan was at work. They got me checked in and checked, and I was starting to think, no baby AGAIN (seriously I thought I was going to get in the genies book of world records for number of false alarms!) when they told me, sorry I don’t think your water broke. My doctor came and even checked too, hoping that it was just hard to tell. Nope, my water hadn’t broken, BUT while I was at the hospital they monitored me and I was having consistent contractions and they were getting more and more. Also I was a 4. My doctor (I love her!) said I should walk home and back a couple times and then she could break my water if it hadn’t already. Just then Ryan got back (he had to go to Platteville for work, I had a minor freak-out for a minute because he wasn’t there, but heavenly father sent me some comfort and Ryan didn’t miss anything) and heard the good news. Both of us practically skipped our way out of the hospital, we were so excited- one way or another we were getting our Logan that day, yay! We called the grandma’s and a few other people, stopped by my work and his and walked a few more errands before we returned to the hospital (about 2-2 ½ hours later! We walked almost that whole time too). We got checked in again and the nurse checked me and pretty much said no progress, I wanted to cry, maybe I wasn’t getting my baby. Well my doctor came in a little later and when she checked me I was a 5! Yay, so at 1 she broke my water and things started to pick up. I was expecting Logan to come with in 1 MAYBE 2 hours after my water broke, that was how it was with Em, but nope. I had to work extra hard to get him here! Around 5 I was a 10 and it was time to start pushing. I pushed for just over an hour before he finally came! I was so exhausted and I thought he was never going to come. This was very different then both of my girls who were out with just a few pushes. My doctor stayed the whole time and kept telling me I was doing it right and well, but I kept thinking, I can’t be, he isn’t coming! Why not! I finally got his head pushed all the way down and he started to come out. Here is where the BIG surprise was! I had something called an interthecal (sp?) which is in the spine like an epidural but a little different. I was told I would feel a lot better (true the contractions got way better and I got to relax a little) but at the end I would feel the urge to push. Also there were some kind of weird side effects like during labor I was so itchy, mostly on my face. Seriously I could have scratched my face off. I think I drove Ryan crazy cause he kept telling me not to rub my face. I probably looked pretty crazy, lol. But I seriously wanted to peel my face off- not pleasant. Also it made me nauseous and INCEDIBLY hot. I was sweating like crazy with the ac all the way up and a fan blowing on me I was still hot. They had to get Ryan a warmed up blanket for a little while because he was so cold- and Ryan never gets cold. So I’m dealing with all these side effects thinking, well at least I won’t feel him come, hallelujah, I just don’t want that. Well SURPRISE when he came I felt EVERYTHING. Everything, that was a shock and I was not ready for it. With Kaitlyn and Emily I had been blissfully unaware of how that felt. I had hoped to keep it that way. The doctor told me I should wait for a contraction to push him the rest of the way out. Yeah right! I stopped enough so she could do the breathing thing where they clear out his mouth but that was it. That was SO painful! I wanted him out, no waiting for silly contractions. I definitely worried Ryan, when we were telling a friend about it I realized how much. He has never seen me like that (I have never been like that!) and he was very upset about it. We are getting an epidural next time no matter what! Ryan defiantly will fight for it. Well anyways Logan Daniel Dalton was born on 8-8-08 at 6:08 pm (18:08 was the official time, all the clocks were on 24 hr time). Another fun fact Logan Daniel was born while Daniel (my dad) was on his way to Logan (ut). When he finally came the nurse and doctor were surprised at how big he was. They were taking turns guessing his size. 8 lbs 15 ½ ounces, that’s just .5 ounce under 9 lbs! He’s a big boy. Perfectly beautiful too. I love my little Logan Daniel and I’m so glad he’s here.

A little self reminder

My children DO love each other. Sometimes it's hard to remember that. Here's some proof.

Kaitlyn sat down to eat her popsicle and said Emmy come sit with me, and she did. It was so cute Ryan took pictures. Thanks babe! Now we just need to look at this when they're fighting and remember, they do love each other!

Emmy

The last post was all about Kaitlyn and one of her messes so here's some cute pictures of Emily. We had Lazana the other night and Em LOVED it. Ofcoarse she pretty much loves all food.

Oh the joy of food!

What a HUGE mess!

I love the joy of the little things that kids show us. How many of us are that happy just to eat dinner?

Em spending her first night in the toddler bed,

and last! She fell out, and we haven't put her back in. I don't think mom and dad are ready for her to be a "big girl" yet. But the clock is ticking, Logan will only be able to sleep in the basinet for so long. And NO, he's not here yet, I wish!

On a completly different note:
My Aunt Laurie posted about this VERY cool website.

"One of my other frequent internet stops is a favorite site called freerice.com. I love it because if I'm waiting at my computer for any reason (slow connection, uploading, downloading, etc.) I can jump over to this site and learn something while contributing to the cause of ending hunger around the world. The concept is this: you are presented with a vocabulary word and four definitions under it. You select the word you think is the best synonym or definition for the presented word. If you're correct you have just donated 20 grains of rice to the UN World Food Program. The vocabulary words get more and more difficult as you answer them correctly. (Words are scored by difficulty, 60 being the highest level.) When you miss you drop back a level and must answer 3 in a row correctly to move to the next level again. 20 grains of rice doesn't sound like much, but it really adds up quickly! In the FAQ section of the website you'll find lots of good information about how much rice has been donated so far (the site has been up and running for less than a year, but has donated an incredible amount of food) and how the money to purchase the rice is generated. It's easy, fun, enriching, and benefits those who need it most -- all without ever leaving your cushy office chair. Nice, huh?"

I've really enjoyed it too, so share the wealth, play a little and feed hungry people.

How do blogs bless you (or your children's) lives?

We live in such a technological age. What a blessing it is to be connected with friends and family that live so far away. I feel like a part of my blogging friends lives, even though we never see eachother.
The other day I was enjoying reading a blog about one of the friends I made in Des Moines (her blog is private so I can't share her post with you). Her little boy had spilled a drink on the floor and was slurping it up. She had the most adorable picture of him and told some stories of the other messes made resently by her kids. I enjoyed reading and laughing about how cute her kids are. Well not much later I was on the phone with my sister Julia when I heard Kaitlyn say, "can't get it off, can't get it off" -What is she doing? She has been WAY to quiet! Oh crap! Those were my thoughts and this is what I found:

That was just on the couch, the mess continued to the other couch the end table and the floor. Luckily for Kaitlyn I had just read that blog and decided to laugh about it and not FREAK OUT about the HUGE mess my daughter had made. So to her great surprise mom made her pose for a picture and laughed about it with her. She got to help clean it up- a HUGE reward because she got to use clorox wipes (I LOVE those things, seriously you HAVE to get some, they're amazing!) and she loves them. To get the coushions clean I pulled them off the couch and put them on the floor to clean. When those were done Kaitlyn started jumping on them- and I didn't stop her! I even let her jump on the couches too. I think we both really needed some "break all the rules" time. Things at our house have been stressed lately. -Well mostly mom, I'm very ready for this baby to arrive! When Em got up from her nap she got to play with a wipe (don't worry it was just a bum wipe not one with cleaner in it) and help "clean". It turned into a fun activity. That said when Kaitlyn tried to get the baby powder out again I said no way! I do have some limits. I don't think my sence of humor would have survived a repeat! So I post this for 2 reasons. 1 I hope you get a good laugh out of our crazy house, and 2 next time your child does something simular (you know they will!) you can laugh too and turn it into fun. A huge thanks again to my good friend Lisa, because otherwise this would NOT have been a funny occation!
