October 4K

Here's Kaitlyn's October 4K pictures. Can I just say again how AWESOME Kaitlyn's teacher is! ~Love her~

There are a TON of pictures from October, so I'll try and break them up.

They made applesauce:

Football players came from the highschool and read to them. Kaitlyn even got their autograph. This was big stuff and she was very excited to show me the autographs! Haha.

A fun surprise!

Since we didn't go out on actual Halloween, I thought that night I'd have a fun surprise for them. This idea is from my friend Erica's blog.

A regular bath night:

Transformed into a super fun one!:

I bought some glow in the dark sticks and threw them in the tub and turned the lights out. The kids LOVED it!

Halloween!

This year the kids got to go to LOTS of Halloween celebrations! On Saturday the 23rd (a whole week before) we went to Stonefeild. I had never been before, but we will definitely be going next year! It was so much fun! The whole "town" was decorated and it was SOO much fun to take the kids too.

Here's the kids walking in:

Kaitlyn was a bride, Emily a skeleton, Logan a Firefighter and Evan:

a loin! They were so cute! All 4 of them. The really cute thing is when Julia (my sister) and I were kids one year I went as a bride and Julz went as a scary skeleton! I LOVED that my girls did the same thing this year!

Stonefield is this place you can go as a kind of living history site. Here's a little bit of what it looked like. It's actually pretty big area so it's hard to see it all.

And a couple more attempts to get pictures of the kids

I actually made Kaitlyn's skirt. I was pretty proud of it. She tolerated it. Oh well. That was Saturday, on Tuesday the kids got to dress up again for playgroup. On Wednesday Kaitlyn got to wear her costume to school, and on Friday we went to the Library Halloween party and then to the branch trunk or treat! This was the first year we've done a trunk or treat and it was a HUGE success! So much fun. I forgot my camera, but I promise we had a blast. I hope they do one next year too. Halloween was on a Sunday this year so we didn't go trick or treating that night, or pass out candy. I am glad the kids were young enough they didn't know we skipped it :)

Grandparents Day

Kaitlyn's school has Grandparents Day. Seeing as they only gave a weeks notice there was no way Kaitlyn's grandparents could come, so Ryan and I went! It was so fun and I'm so glad that both of us could go. When we got there Kaitlyn came running up to us. Here's us standing in line for snack.

We sat down and ate snack, and then the kids did some supper cute songs and finger plays for us!

Then it was art time! Kaitlyn LOVED this!

Kaitlyn's cute teacher told us a Halloween story

It was so fun to see Kaitlyn at school, I'm glad we got to go!

And Logan got a hat from his daddy and he LOVES to wear it. Even sleep in it. He's SOO cute!

Evan feel asleep while Daddy was holding him and even stayed asleep while he was teasing him. Tired baby!

6 years!

On Saturday October 16th, Ryan and I had our 6 year anniversary! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband! We decided to spend the day as a family in Gays Mills at an apple orchard. We had such a nice time together as a family, and got lots of yummy apples!

When we first got there we went to the bakery and everyone got a cookie.

The kids eating some of the yummy apples we bought.

Next we went to the Sunflower Corn Maze, the kids were having fun even on the short walk over there.

The sunflower corn maze

Knowing it was a beautiful day out and we were going to be somewhere beautiful outside I made everyone dress wearing the same colors. I had different red shirts picked out for the girls, but they were very united on wanting to wear their Christmas shirts I made them a few years back. So we all got dressed and headed out. Here are my ATTEMPTS at family pictures, cause with 4 under 5 it's pretty impossible to get that perfect picture!

After we ran (quite literally! Kaitlyn got to lead the way and it was all we could do to catch the little ones up with her!) through the maze, the kids saw these and wanted their pictures taken:

and these were on the other side

Then we went to show the kids were the apples actually came from, the trees! The kids were pretty tired of mom's attempts to take their pictures by then. But really, it'd go much faster if they would all just look at the same time!

After that we went to Dubuque and did a little shopping. I believe that was the day we bought the flooring that Ryan put in and blogged about. The kids were so great! It was a long and fun day. I thought it would be fun to celebrate as a family 6 years of Dalton's and the day didn't disappoint! That evening Ryan and I went out on a date. Just the two of us! I was pretty nervous to leave baby Evan at home, he was only 2 1/2 months old. We did stop in just to check once and everyone was doing well. In fact I think Evan slept the whole time the babysitters were over! We decided to go out to dinner and then to a play in town. The dinner was nice, but the play was BORING! I was so excited to go because we haven't been to a play in forever and we both really enjoy them. This one was painful though. Ryan suggested we leave at intermission and I thought surly SOMETHING would happen in the second half and it would get interesting. Nope. Oh well. It was nice to get out and spend sometime with Ryan though!
